L’Interieur

As you’d expect from a 17th century stone built bastide, there is no shortage of old exposed wooden beams, open fireplaces, large bedrooms, traditional terracotta tiled floors and forged iron works.

BEDROOMS
The bastide can sleep up to twelve people and both the twin bedrooms can be made up as doubles. Furthermore, the house is configured in such a way that each sleeping space feels private and separate from the others, so even with a houseful, everyone has their own space.

Up the stairs from the sitting room, on the first floor, is the large master bedroom. It has a Superking-sized bed, exposed oak ceiling beams, a wide, open fireplace, two built-in wardrobes, and views over the terrace, pool and countryside beyond. The travertine-tiled ensuite has a loo, basin, shower and bidet.
On the floor above is a second, light-filled and pretty double bedroom with a French
armoire wardrobe and ensuite shower room.

Up three or four stairs from there is another very large double bedroom with ladder steps to a mezzanine ‘library’ area above. The room has a Superking-sized bed, rustic French pine wardrobe and its own entrance which gives access to a small private terrace with table and chairs.

The bedroom is served by the family bathroom next door on the landing, comprising a loo, basin, bath, shower and bidet. The bathroom also serves the large, bright bedroom above which has wide windows and panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The room has a double and a single bed, so would be suitable for a couple, a couple with a young child, or, with the possibility of adding an additional mattress, could provide ‘dormitory’ sleeping for older children. As the main bedroom has its own independent entrance, it is possible to close access from the rest of the house to these two top bedrooms and bathroom, thus creating a separate family ‘suite’. There are tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge on the landing.

The pretty stone-built pool house is completely separate from the main bastide and, as the name suggests, is off the terrace overlooking the pool. On the ground floor is an airy and comfortable seating area, which can be converted into a sofabed, with a dressing table/desk and coffee table. There is also a large bathroom with loo, basinand walk-in shower, as well as a washing machine for guests’ use. On the first floor is a cosy twin-room, with air conditioning, which can also be made up as a double.

Please note: the property sleeps ten people very comfortably. There is potential provision for up to thirteen, as outlined, but a surcharge is payable for each person additional to ten (see tarrif).
